Bird in Hand

One of Charlie's jobs is to administer sporting clays' events for the Social Shooting Club. Every now and then, we are able to bring the dogs along with us for one of these working weekends. Bird in Hand Shotgun Sports in Plains, GA, is one of these places we enjoy taking the critters. Surrounding the RV are the most beautiful open fields in which Rocky and Claire LOVE to run. They would go nonstop if we let them! Unfortunately, Annie has to remain on leash due to her wandering nose. We can see in her eyes how badly she wants to go running with the brittanys every time we are at Bird in Hand. This past spring we devised a plan to let Annie have her dream. Using a retractable leash and a lot of care, Annie runs along side the golf cart as we drive the course. While these pictures were taken with a cell phone and came out quite fuzzy, I'm sure you will be able to tell the great joy Annie feels running on this particular day. All of us were joyful this day.

Sorry it has been so long since our last entry. Annie, Rocky and Claire are doing well. They all had fun running around in the few inches of snow that we got today. Too bad Bobbi left her camera at school! Here are some Christmas pictures to entertain you.

Introducing Sadie!

We would like to introduce a new friend of ours. She lives in NH and her name is Sadie. Some terrific people adopted her two weeks ago. We sure hope to meet Sadie in person one day so that we can run, play, and chase each other. We'll even be happy to share our bones with her. Check out the beautiful pictures of this lovely girl.

Plains, Georgia Trip

We were back at Bird in Hand Shotgun Sports in Plains, Georgia last weekend. All three pooches had a wonderful time. Rocky and Claire enjoyed running through the endless fields. Annie enjoyed rolling in the dry grasses. The humans enjoyed a delicious cookout with friends Bob and Jennifer. We'd like to thank Jennifer for the two terrific pictures of Annie and Rocky that she shared with us. I (Bobbi) rarely like pictures of myself; however, I've included this one because the picture of Annie came out so well. Claire, unfortunately, wouldn't stay still long enough for Jennifer to get a picture taken. Maybe next time, Jen!

Here she is....the mysterious girl named Annie! It is very rare that we get a picture of Annie when she is actually looking at the camera. You see, Annie is camera shy. If you hold a camera up (or actually anything to your eyes), she tucks her tail and finds a place to hide. Fortunately,our beagle gal hasn't figured out that Charlie's new phone has a built in camera! We love you, Annie!

This past weekend, Rocky and Claire got to go play at a friend's place. There was a terrific pond to swim in. The pair had tons of fun! They even got to play with Jackson and Belle, their brittany friends.

The Bench!

A very sweet man named Mr. Percy N. gave me (Bobbi) a big surprise this weekend. I went down to see Charlie one evening at the turkey shoot. Charles and I attended a dinner and silent auction. One item being auctioned was a child's park bench that I thought would be a nice addition to my classroom. The iron back featured a mother turkey and her chicks. Anyhow, I placed a bid keeping my personal school spending limit in mind. Of course, I was outbid not too long into the evening.

Saturday morning, Mr. Percy N. found me and delivered the bench! He outbid the high bidder at the last moment and bought the bench for my classroom. This generous gift totally surprised me and was unexpected. Thank you, sir, for the special surprise. My students will enjoy the bench for years to come!

Izzy, the mascot from the 1996 Olympic Games, keeps the bench warm when the students are not using it.

Turkey Shoot

Charlie attended the National Federation Wildlife Turkey Shoot this past week. He had a terrific time. The dogs stayed home with Bobbi this time. Here are some of the pictures of the deluxe camping area in which he stayed.

Claire, Rocky and Annie Summer 2008

Greetings! Well, the summer has been a time of great adventure and fun for the critters...most of the time! Claire was spayed at the beginning of the month. She also had all her shots and was microchipped. She is doing great! We've discovered that she has 2 distinct personalities. The first is the one she came to us with and that is very cuddly, sweet, comes when called, and just simply precious. The second personality may be described as rambunctious, full of energy, very playful and always ready to eat!

Claire gives Rocky a run for his money! It used to be Rocky always wanting to play with Annie a lot more than Annie wanting to play. Claire wants to playfully attack Rocky any chance she gets. When Rocky wants to stop, Claire does NOT! She runs and chases with the best of them.

Annie and Rocky have shown Claire the lay of the land. She knows all the best digging spots, how to get as muddy as possible in the creek, and the locations of the best smelling deer scat to roll in!

Claire now sleeps in her crate in our bedroom. We are very proud of her! Here are some pictures of Rocky and Claire playing and then Claire exhausted.

FDR State Park

We spent 3 nights at FDR campground. Our campsite was
next to a meandering stream and some bridges to cross. Very pretty
setting! We went on several hikes on the trails and numerous walks
around the campground daily. Many campers enjoyed stopping us to pet
the dogs and to visit for a bit.
This is the only pooch picture we took at FDR (Claire's head). Guess we were too busy walking the dogs.
